Mehsana, also spelled Mahesana, is a city and municipality in Mehsana district, in the Indian state of Gujarat.
According to Jain scriptures, Sri Simandhar Swami after obtaining Keval Gnan is still moving about physically in “Purva Maha Videh Kshetra” (this area is designated in Jain cosmology). Such a temple of Sri Simandhar Swami, located in an extraordinary large compound, built in a special architectural style and with sky-reaching Shikhar is the first of its kind throughout India. The large size idol of the Lord is just gorgeous and highly impressive. It is so vivid that one feels the physical presence of the Lord and this fact alone is the uniqueness of this temple. Besides this temple, there are other 14 Jain temples in the town where many other institutions and organizations are also actively working. The work of Sri Yashovijay Sanskrit Pathshala is particularly praise worthy. Many students from here have been initiated as Jain saints and several have become Jain religious teachers.
