From stone inscriptions it is found that the ancient names of this place were Lotipur pattam, Lotanak etc., In the temple, on one idol in a standing posture there os an inscription dated Vikram year 1144. Similarly, on two other idols also in a standing posture, there are inscription dated Jyest Sukla 5 in Vikram year 1130. It appears that at that time, renovations may have been carried out here. The idol of this Sri Adinath Bhagwan is from Shatrunjay shrines, brought here, during the latter’s 13th renovation. The last two renovations carried out here were in Vikram year 2016. The importance of this shrine is because of its antiquity distinguishing idol brought from eternal Shatrunjay shrines. Such an idol with its “Parikar” is no where to be seen. The exquisiteness of the delicate and dexterous art involved is striking. The scene of the temple on the hill in a village is also an attractive one. There is no other temple in the immediate area nearby.
