Prayagraj is the location of Triveni Sangam, the meeting point of three rivers - Ganga, Yamuna and the Saraswati. It is believed that the Saraswati river, now vanished, meets the other two underground at this place. Prayagraj is the sacred site for the Kumbh Mela every six and twelve years, and Maha Kumbh that happens once in 144 years.
It is believed Lord Brahma performed the first Yagna on earth here in Prayagraj. The river Ganga which flows here is the life and soul of Prayagraj. The numerous ghats and boats sailing down the river are a most pleasant sight. On the banks many temples, forts and monuments add to the charm of the river.
