It is believed that during 13th Vikram century, this idol was discovered from underground here near a large tree. People say that Sri Kumarpal Raja has built this temple and got this idol ceremonially installed here. From stone inscriptions available here, it is found that renovations to this temple were carried out in Vikram year 1481.It is evident therefore that this shrine belongs to a period earlier that 15th Vikram century. A later reference available states that during the period of Sri Vijaydevsurishvarji in Vikram 17th century, once again the renovations on the temple were carried out. This antiquity of the temple is the significance of this shrine. Every year on Vaishakh Krishna 11 a flag is hoisted on the mast of the temple sikhar when pilgrims gather in large numbers and take the benefit of collective worship and prayers. Here in the temple of Sri Mahavir Bhagwan, the Guardian Deity is believed to be working miracles. Many non-Jain devotees also keep in visiting this shrine.Besides this, there are three other temples nearby. In all these temples here, the idols are ancient and very artistic. Because the temples are ancient, relics of old idols also can be seen here.
